In this topic i will show you how i upgraded the obsolete HP Z220 CMT Workstation and created a budget Gaming or Office Desktop PC out of it with few cheap upgrades that worked wonders for this PC.
Since the Gaming GPU’s or Graphics card from Nvidia GeForce and AMD Radeon prices are sky high at the moment i bought a modest GPU from NVIDIA called NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 branded by ASUS that has DDR5 and 2GB of Vram on it.
The Next thing was the ram originally there was only 2 sticks of ram inside the HP z220 each 2GB making it 4GB in total but i changed that and replaced it with 2X8GB and 2X4GB in total 24GB in dual channel.
Originally the PC had a 250GB Seagate mechanical hard disk drive with 7200RPM and it was showing it’s age and i replaced that 3x1TB WD black mechanical Disk Drive and a 500GB Samsung 850 Evo SSD or Solid State Drive.
I also replaced the CPU which had a 4 core 4 threads Intel Core i5 3470 clocked at 3.20GHz and i replaced it with a 4 core and 8 threaded Intel Core i7 3770 clocked at 3.4GHz CPU.
